It’s round 12, with only 4 more home and away rounds to go, so let’s all focus on finishing the year in true St Marys spirit as we lead into the finals.  Let’s hope our song is sung loud and proud many times over the remainder of the season.

This Sunday Night at the rooms we are sharing the night across our, Tackers, Under 10’s and Girls Teams

The St Marys GJFC would love to invite every player and their family and friends to come along and chat about the days footy, have a few drinks and make some friends!  We will as usual provide complimentary pizzas for the players to eat.  We will also be serving food for the adults at a very reasonable price.  The bar will be open as well, so please make the effort to come down and support the club.

There will be the Joker Jackpot – your chance to win $450 cash for just a $2 outlay or a Seafood Tray valued at over $100 donated by Fishi Business of Greensborough Plaza!  The choice is yours.  At worst if you don’t select the Joker you receive a consolation prize of a bottle of St Mary’s wine.

There will also be the Lucky Guernsey Number Giveaway.  A number will be drawn at random and a player who wears that Guernsey number this season will walk away with a $25 Rebel voucher.  That’s three chances to win something on the night!!!

Special Guest Speaker this Sunday Night: Australian Winter Olympian Scott James

The club is honoured to have Australian two time Winter Olympian Scott James come down to the club and speak to players and members on what it takes to reach the pinnacle of sport….The Olympic Games. Scott was competing by the age of six. At 10 he was beating the older kids and moved from racing into the halfpipe. He first competed on the international circuit as a 14-year-old at the 2008 Europa Cup in Saas Fee, Switzerland. Despite already having a kneecap that dislocates randomly when he, say, sits down, making the transition from “being the top kid, this sick junior, to starting all over again in Men’s.” A 15th in the World Cup event at Stoneham, Canada, prior to the Olympics secured his place and a description, by The Australian newspaper, as “the world’s coolest schoolboy athlete”.   In February 2010, at the Cypress Mountain halfpipe in Canada, Scotty James became the youngest ever Australian to compete at the Winter Olympics. He had a freshly fractured wrist, which he ignored.   Scott is the youngest Australian Winter Olympian ever but he was also the youngest male winter Olympian from anywhere in the world for the past 50 years. A truly amazing feat!
